This communication with SAP involves a unidirectional interface between SAP and qs-STAT that is designed for the transfer of inspection lot, characteristic and measurement data, for interactive analysis of these data within qs-STAT. This QM-STI analysis is available in such SAP program areas as data collection, control charting and data history. The data selected under SAP (header data and measured values) are transferred to the STI interface. qs-STAT then starts automatically based on the saved analysis method and the requisite RFC connection.
In older release versions, the interface had already offered the required functionality for simultaneous transmission of several characteristics. This was supported by specific Reports (e.g. RQESIL00). However, retransmission of the statistics calculated by qs-STAT back to the SAP QM module had only been possible as part of bespoke customer projects.
With the mySAP ERP 2005 release, significant enhancements to the QM-STI interface became available, which allow a significantly greater degree of integration of the two systems. Apart from greater flexibility during the selection of inspection lots and characteristics and the ease of transmitting several characteristics from SAP to qs-STAT via the QM-STI interface, qs-STAT reports, graphics and statistical parameters can be selected freely and displayed directly within the SAP user interface. Because of the flexibility of the selection options and the optimised integration of the two systems, the user moves solely in the SAP environment. The analysis results or graphics are generated by qs-STAT and then transferred via the QM-STI interface to the SAP system.
The analysis strategy which is at the core of qs-STAT forms the basis of all results or graphs. The analysis strategy defines how statistics are calculated, or which statistical requirements apply in terms of data quality. qs-STAT integrates company Codes of Practice of many automotive manufacturers and other major companies and reflects current norms and standards. Simple selection of the required analysis strategy (parameter transfer) makes it possible for SAP QM to display the analysis results on the basis of the Codes of Practice and standards implemented within qs-STAT.
Data transfer using the ‘Inspection Data Interface (QM-IDI)’
The Q-DAS SAP Server was developed for the acquisition of data from SAP inspection lots. This server has the functionality required to display inspection lots waiting in SAP for processing, and for making a selection from these. Here, the Q-DAS SAP Server actively addresses enquiries to the QM module. The inspection lots are then made available to the procella data acquisition system. The Q-DAS SAP Server is seamlessly integrated into procella and qs-STAT so as to enable selection of an inspection lot from within the application. The entry screen supports selection by material no., inspection lot no., order/job no., or a combination of these fields. Then, the SAP inspection lot is synchronised with the Q-DAS data, which then have supplementary information on the inspection process added to them. This information, for example the inspection sequence for the characteristics, possible connection of measuring instruments, the recording of supplementary data (machine, line, gauge ...), is only saved in the Q-DAS environment. Once all the required inspection plan data are available in procella, data acquisition can commence. This is done either manually or via a serial interface that accepts the measurement data directly from the measurement systems. Appropriate on-line visualisation and statistical monitoring of the acquired data takes place within procella in the usual manner. On completion of the inspection process, the acquired data can be saved and managed in the Q-DAS database. As an option, the raw values (individual values) for the inspection lot can also be transferred to SAP. The allocation of the raw data to inspection lots in SAP is based on unique header data which, thanks to synchronisation, are present in both systems.
